The Juke is a sporty compact crossover SUV that comes wrapped in idiosyncratic styling one might either find strange or strangely appealing. A 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates a willing 188 hp, and can be mated to either a gearless CVT automatic transmission or a six-speed manual (the latter only with front-drive models, and not on the base version). A taut suspension makes the Juke fun whipping around city street-corners and tackling twisty rural roads. The available all-wheel-drive (AWD) system further improves its wet- and dry-road traction by splitting the engine power both from front to rear and side-to-side across the rear axle. There’s plenty of room up front for taller riders to stretch out but back seat room is limited. A limited production Juke-R version, which packs the turbocharged 480-horsepower V-6 from the Nissan GT-R, is also available on a build-to-order basis, but at a staggering $590,000 sticker price.
